War was a lot of fun! But alas WAY too busy. Busy enough that I didn't have time to whip out my camera and take photos of war like I planned to. ARG! Ah well.  Next war I plan to only do Volunteer Raffle and my Chatelaine stuff so I plan to spend most of my days chilling with beer, Shopping and HOPEFULLY watching the fighting again. Its been years since I wandered up to the fighting field.
Max apparently has turned into a quite a peacock and bought himself a gorgous gold Turkish coat for court garb. he looks rather dashing in it if I do say so myself. He also bought some new Talifas and a new linen shirt which also looks very fetching on him. I myself didn't pick up too much. I bought a new Ghawzee that Greystone Garb had on sale ($60 plus a free chamise), picked up some trim, buttons, and some blue fabric to make Max a new Doublet out of . Rock and Clouse, two drummers who helped us out at the Gaslight Gathering, Are fabric merchants and want me to come visit their factory so I can drool for an hour or two over their stuff. *L* I plan to. They gave me some amazing deals since they're old friends with Max and Capt'n. I should at least take photos of my bounty. Also, the art I offered up at the Arts Auction went for $55! WOO! I was very proud.

The only thing that sucked is I got sick...natch. I started feeling under the weather around Saturday and my Sunday I had a full blown cold. Luckily my bosses at the museum managed to get me yesterday covered so I could stay home a rest... and attempt to get the mountain of laundry tackled. I got SOME done. Better than nothing.
Otherwise, Good times with good friends.

June has begun. And June has been dubbed Arts and Crafts Month while I gear up for Anime Expo. My main goal is to get my Etsy store up before the month ends. I WILL DO THIS!
cinagel: (CinCity)
So I was going to update yesterday. But I got busy, then distracted, then ended up flailing with my arms in the air screaming ZOMGWTFBBQ!!!1!  while I assessed damage control. Controled the damage, and now everything appears to be back to normal again.
Long story not worth getting into or even that relevant to everyday life, to be honest. No bus loads of children exploded and the world did not end.  But I will say my rage factor went through the roof and both Max and the Capt'n had to talk me out of showing up at someone's door step with an ice pick in one hand and a bottle of Vic's VaporRub in the other. For a moment, the Italian side fully took over....Damn, I am a scary Italian. O.o
Need to take my own advice and take a deep breath next time this happens. Calm Blue Ocean, Cindy. Calm Blue Ocean.
I am not proud of my rage...but I am damn good at it.

Anyways, all is happy and bright again in the world of Cindy.
Yesterday we had a drumming and dancing jam for Middle Eastern Guild and it was ROCKIN! Seriously. We had a ton of people show up which was totally surprising. Usually we get about four to five people a meeting including me and Max. This time? 10 to 13. WOW! And almost all of them showing up to learn how to belly dance. And guess who was teaching the class? Yup. Me. O.o. I'm still a beginner myself but I managed to slam out a good basics class to the ladies and we had a great time just dancing to the music and getting used to being relaxed infront of a crowd. I think we danced for about 2 hours straight. And everyone had a blast!...and I ran out of food because I was only expecting a handful of people there. The cool part is everyone had so much fun that a good chunk of them plan to return for the June meeting. WOO! That was fabulous indeed.

Max is away on a business trip so its been me and Scout flyin' solo for the week. And while I miss my awesomesauce hubby I have to admit its kinda nice being alone for a bit at night. Gives me a little meditation time...and a chance to vaccume in the dead of night without waking Max up...because I am insane and I do that sort of thing. Tonight I'm going to chill at home in my studio and work on making some more things for AX selling and finish coloring in some art. I've been working on making some hairclips/tribal hair falls and they have so far turned out really nice. I have absolutely NO idea if they are going to sell at all but I figured I'll have a few  there and see how they do. Thinking of doing a couple of Betty Paige style hair clips as well. We'll see. Time as usual, is a factor.
Trying to gear up for the Gaslight Gathering this Saturday. Nervous about dancing infront of Non SCA folk so we'll see how this goes.  Gonna smile and look like I know what I'm doing..and do that for many hours on end. WHEEEE!

Going to make myself  scan some artwork and get it posted on my art blog tonight. I have a ton of things to show. Some are done some are not but eh, I figured I should put some stuff up. I have a lot of drawings that I've been working on but a lack of time and motivation to put them on the interwebs. Going to have to get my new business cards printed up as well.

Today's Hair flower is..Orchids!

Awake!
...sorta
Okay who am I kidding? I am so not awake. But its not for lack of trying! I think I finally am fully recovered from my cold... Only to get stricken by alleries. Damn you sinuses! *Shakes fist*. Regardless, at least I'm feeling semi human again, though the cold has knocked be behind about... oh...a month. ARG!
Trying not to think about that.
Anyways, I managed to get back up north for a very quick visit home last weekend. My nephews are growing like weeds and everyone is doing well. My Uncle Mike especially. While he still has cancer, his cancer has shrunk significantly due to the chemo. This gives him and lot of extra time on life. I am extremely grateful to the powers that be for this news. Its the first good news we got since he was diagnosed.:)
Alas, I had to be home for work on Easter. But Max prepared quite the Easter feast on Sunday which was amazing. Then it was Game of Thrones Ep 2 time. We've been doing viewing parties for this every week which usually involves a feast of some sort.
My ass is getting so fat.
Trying to get back into dance practice. Ty comes over once a week now so we can practice with my DVDs. I'm improving, not sure how performance ready I am but I'll just do the age old trick of smiling and pretending I know what I'm doing. If you can't dazzle them with style, baffle them with bullshit, as my father always says.
On an up note, I have been doing a lot of sketching and as soon as I have two friggin seconds to myself, I'll start scanning things. I even was asked to do the Gate Flyer cover for May War. So if you go to May War this year? That be my cover. WOO! I'll scan it eventually. Its not a bad piece. Also, Barroness Bri had me do a ton of illustrations for her article on what to and what not to wear in the SCA. I'm really proud of those and when the article goes live I'll post a link. ALSO also, my sketch commission I offered up at the arts auction at St Artemas went for a good penny too! I think I'll offer up another commission for the May War Arts Auction and see how that Fares.
And on May 21st I'm going to a workshop on how to make a good pattern for a fitted Gothic dress. Its something Ellyn and I have been JONESIN' to learn. The workshop is in Corona and she's willing to drive so I'm willing to go! Just need some Linen, safty pins, and a buddy to drape it to me. Always wanted a fitted Gothic dress so this should be a blast!

Otherwise, life is trucking along. The sunshine is back (for now) which has really lifted my spirits. I hope it remains for a little bit. It makes my lunch breaks so much more enjoyable. After I get the backyard weeded and cleane up again I plan to lounge out there with a book and a margarita.
I may get me some nice windchimes for the back yard too. Just for the hell of it.
cinagel: (Snuggle Sleep)

My God, I am TIRED.
Seriously, I have been crashing hard and early at night every chance I get. Its a shame too because I really have a lot on my plate right now. The good news is that I think I am finally...FINALLY over this damn cold! Thank Friggin GOD! I was really getting over being sick. MEH!

Julie has been in town for the last few days and we've been having a blast. Luckily it has been a mellow blast as well. We've both been mainly chillin' around San Diego. Friday we went shopping then out to Lidos for a belated birthday dinner. We also got our nails done. I haven't had a Mani/Pedi since...oh..I think 2009. My toenails...I kid you not...are neon green. I call the color radioactive zombie green. My fingernails are an awesome pinup girl Hollywood red.
 Behold! Proof!

Julie told me about this new polish called Shelack I should try since I'm so hard on my nails. Usually they chip about 2 minutes after I get them done. So far? Not a chip or smear. Julie says for her the manicure lasted almost a month. I'm starting to believe her. It was a little bit extra but hell, with how hard I am on my nails, its worth it for me!
Then on Saturday we went to the St. Artemas tourney so Jules could see what this whole SCA thingy was about. She enjoyed it! Enough that she was considering looking into it up in No Cal. Max came in 2nd place at the rapier Tourney so I am very proud of my guy. I also put up some sketch commissions for the arts auction. No clue who won it but I'm sure I'll find out on Wednesday at council. We had to leave the tourney early though because Max slightly tweaked his knee. It was bugging him enough that I wanted him to go home and elevate it for a while.
I'm very happy we've had such a fun relaxing weekend. Hell, most of the day after St. Aretmas was spent sitting on the couch. Max played Xbox, Julie cross stitched, and I got some much needed to do sketching done. Then it ended with hot tub and wine and happily falling into bed into a nice deeeep sleep.
I needed that so much.

Almost done with my rehaul of Original Cin. I really what it up in the next week or two. I'm actually very excited about the sketch blog format and I think I'll be taknig advantage of it. Already It has inspired me to sketch again. And while I'm not drawing every single day this april, I am drawing. Actualyl what I'm doing is drawing and FINISHING pieces which I haven't done in forever. I'm proud of myself.

So it is definite and for sure. I will be belly dancing at the Gaslight Gathering. So if you wanna see shake my toosh..and laugh as well, Come to the con!  Info on the con is here:)
http://www.gaslightgathering.org/
I'm actually very excited to go. Still need to pick up a pass for Friday though. Since I'm "entertainment" on Saturday, I'm comp-ed.
Need to get my steampunk dance gear in order. here's a hint..it WON'T be skimpy if you've seen my ass lately. O.o Nervous as Hell that I'm going to look REALLY bad out there. I'll just smile and wave my arms around a lot. That always worked on stage.

Still tired alas, but my only plans tonight are to go home, put on the PJs, watch the Game of Thrones series premiere on HBO (OMGOMGOMG!!!!!), eat Julie's chocolate rum cake, drink some wine, then crash.
My life is so glamorous.

And I leave you with my wonderful felty Cthulhul courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] wyngdlyon  AKA,  Colleen.

Lurve heeeeeeem!!

cinagel: (Anne Bolelyn)
So this morning has been really weird believe it or not. And iIve been feeling off for the most part. I blame the weird dream I had that I was pregnant.   But I'm starting to equalize as the day goes on. Always a good thing.
No, I am not pregnant.
Max is making Meat pies for Pi day. Yay for cooking nerds!
And I have two half days this week so I may be able to attack the back yard this week. I definitely will be going geocaching with Ketill Thursday afternoon. See if I can get a few more caches under my belt since I have so very few. Its gonna be a full week I am sure. But when is it not these days?

Anyways,  I don't have a ton to go over that is very interesting so here's some pretty from the Weekend:

First bloom in my patch of wildflowers in the front yard. :)

It was Perisan night at the Cheateau de Nom Nom on Friday. Here was some of our awesome spread. SO MUCH CHEESE!

Some pretties from the Gyldenhold/Calafia Friendship Tourney up in Orange County. Long drive but a LOT of fun.

and...teh cutes.

The few, the proud...the...few.
Yeah, My photo Safari I had planned on Saturday was squashed by the dust/rain storm. I stole a few pics from Jen though.

cinagel: (Runaway Anne)
Oh...and [livejournal.com profile] costumenonsense  is updated with a finished pic of Ty looking fabulous in the persian coat i made her.

So I got back from Estrella about three days ago. But I hit the ground running and I've been too busy/tired to really post an entry about my adventures. So tonight I'm going to upload what little photos I took of war and do a full post on the week. The one day I planned to do my Estrella War photo safari was the day we had the huge dust storm...followed by the huge rain storm.
I'll be stealing some photos from Jen and other SCA pals more than likely. The overall verdict though? Fantastic time! I really had a blast this Estrella. It was laid back and fun. The only think that would have made it super excellent was if Mark and Ty could have made it. Well, maybe next year.
Max managed to spoil me this war as an early birthday treat. He picked me up a beautiful ceramic Griffin tankard (The griffin is my heraldric animal on my SCA device) so I can now have one for war and for home. He also picked me up a copy of "The Tudor Tailor" which is a book I have been lusting after for years. WOO! I now have drafting instructions for some Tudor garb! He also paid for an hour  massage session for me at Hands of Mercy (the massage group that comes to wars). And with my shoulder feeling the way it has been, I really needed it. So yes, my husband is made of total win and awesome. I loves heeeeem! I'm hoping we can schedule a trip to Creole Cafe on Sunday night for my real Birthday. Its tradition.
I also managed to get my butt on the dance floor and belly dance a bit at war. I have gotten better! I believe I graduated from Hippo on Rollerblades to the rank of Buffalo on Ice. Progress! Still practicing though. The DVDs paid off. A good workout plus I am getting more confident in my movement on the dancefloor. Hopefully I'll keep improving....or drink until I  think I've improved.
The only thing that sucks about Estrella recovery (other than the laundry) is the dry dry skin. OOOH wow its like Arizona sucks all the moisture out of me! I feel like I've been sucking on a piece of chalk while rolling in a dust pile for the last week. I've been downing water at an alarming rate trying to get my balance back. I'm slowly starting to feel normal. At least my cheeks don't feel like sandpaper to the touch anymore.

I'm considering taking a nice hot Lush bath either tonight or tomorrow. A good long soak in  a happy smelling bath sounds heavenly.

Weekly pretty:

The gorgous sky we saw over the mountains while driving home from Estrella.

Snoooooow!

cinagel: (SCA Device by Kyt)
Still Alive!
Still busy as holy Hell!

We're preping for Estrella and still have tons to pack and deal with. Both of us have been so wiped after work that we have been procrastinating like crazy. Never good. We spent most of yesterday running War errands. I relized around then that Max and I haven't really had a day together of just hanging in a loooooong time. Even though we were running errands, it was still a good time to spend with Mr Max. Max and I even managed to swing my Home Fabrics in Grossmont. The store location is closing so everythnig is MEGA on sale. I bought some fabulous brown, olive green, and red paisley for me and max picked out a gorgous gold brocade for himself. Coats a plenty to come soon for the guy! The only thing that was a bummer is I somehow pulled a hip when we were loading things in the truck. Hurts like holy Hell right now. Better than yesterday but still..owie.

So remember when I said I probably wouldn't do any sewing for Estrella? Yeah, I lied. Tha paisley was gorgous and I ended up with a new persian pattern from reconstructing history that is pretty historically accurate. So yeah..I started it. And I'm hoping to have it finished by tonight. I got a ton of work on it done already. Just need to attach the lining to the fabric, fit the sleeves, and put on the buttons. Then VIOLA! I be done. Hopefully this will be accomplished tonight after the house meeting. I got shit for sleep last night due to the pulled hip so We'll see if I even stay concious to finish. If I don't, eh I won't be heart broken by any means.   I'll try to take some photos. REALLY happy with the fit of the coat!

So yeah, that has been my life. The museum has been busy as heck, I've been preping for war, and I've also been sewing like a fiend this weekend.  Lots to do and so much to look forward to this week!
WOOO!

And here is your weekly pretty

Our Museum "pocket part" at sunset. I  absolutely love our tree there.

cinagel: (Bedroom Eyes)

Yeah...I'm about %95 positive that my mood issues were related to the BC. I have been off it two days now and I'm already feeling back to normal.
Crazy. O.o
Either way, I'm happy to feel like myself again, or at least almost there. The anxiety and crushing depression is all pretty much gone. I caught myself grinding my teeth a few times today but not to the point where I give myself a headache doing it. Slowly but surely, I'm equalizing. Huzzah.
Going to keep monitoring myself and see where it goes. As of now though? I feel normal or at least next to normal which I'm not knocking.

Thank you guys, for all your concern and your well wishes on this wackiness. It really helped to know you were out there. :)

In other far more AWESOME news...

Estrella War is a go! WOOO!  My boss gave me a call and said that it was worked out and I deserved a vacation anyways so go ahead with the plans. Once again, the Museum rules and comes through for me. So I can go forward with my plans. Working on another short persian coat for War. Since it can get OMG MUDDY there, I need some garb that won't drag on the ground. So I'm going to make another short coat and probably another chemise if I get a chance. Already got fabric for it.  YAAAY! I get my vacation in two weeks!

Going home next weekend to visit mom for her birthday. That worked out as well thank God. So I'm flying out and surprising her. Dad's going to pick me up after his class and we'll be picking up an ice cream cake on the way home...just incase I'm not enough.;) I am very excited to see my family, even if its just for a quick trip.

ALMOST had the day off today. I was scheduled to work the box office for a lecture but it was canceled. So at first they said "Don't come in!" But now they want someone here to tell people the lecture is canceled so the called again and said "Come in!" So I got to sleep in this morning and had a half day. I'm currently sitting at the desk and chilling. Its probably going to be quiet so I brought things to work on and my kindle.

Started working out yesterday. Trying to get some bellydancing practice in again since its been AGES. I am WAY out of practice. Those DVDs I bought ROCK. They give great step by step tutorials as well as combinations to try out....I'm still in the step by step tutorial stage. Lots of moves I've seen by never tried before...and I am in PAIN.
Also did some aerobics this morning..I am going to sleep like the dead tonight.

Yeah..I'm feeling better again.:)

cinagel: (Gryffindor)
Despite me starting out 2011 with the plague, it has proven to have a good vibe to it so far. But I'm staying optimistic and just living one day/week/month at a time.  I'm back at work after spending most of the day yesterday sick in bed. I put myself into a Nyquil coma when I got home on Sunday, then slept until 11am the next day... Then laid in bed all day after that. I considered rolling out of bed and puttering about but as soon as I did my body said "Ummm....No" and I hauled myself back under the blankets with the cat.
I watched a marathon of Tabitha's Salon Takeover...God I love that white haired bitch.
Around 3ish I managed to pull myself out of bed for a shower and some food, got dressed... then went back into bed again. Max rolled through the door around 5ish. We had a little dinner and then we had Middle Eastern Guild. I was sick, Capt'n was sick, Max was recovering from being sick but we didn't want to cancel since it would have been so last minute. It was a small but strong turnout. No dancers so Ace was off the hook from teaching (and gladly rested her paining ankles) so we just planned out our future classes then all the drummers got together in my studio and did a lesson/jammed until 9pm. Everyone had a blast. I'm tempted next meeting to try and lure people over with the promise of hummus, pita, and other middle eastern munchies. Afterwards I put myself into another Nyquil coma and slept like the dead. I needed that. Today I'm feeling better. Not %100 but more on my feet. The Dayquil helps, I'll admit that.
Max has desided that since everyone feels like crap, he's going to try to make Pho. Have I ever mentioned how awesome it is to have a husband who cooks as amazing as Max? Because its friggin' awesome. Seriously. I hate hate HATE cooking (baking though I enjoy on occasion). He has saved me from a life of eating taco shop burritos and TV dinners. So I'm looking forward to trying out some homemade Pho tonight.
Despite me being sick, I think I'm going to attempt (the key word here being ATTEMPT) to put together a doublet for Max for 12th Night which is this Saturday. I have all the fabric, I just need to get off my duff and DO it. The man needs more than one piece of court garb, that's for sure. I'll rip the pattern off his old doublet and hope for the best from there. I'm also jonesin' to take my doll house kit out of the box and start putting it together. Just need to pick up some good wood glue and find Max's clamps. Kinda stoked to start this project.
I also need to scan the sketches I did over Christmas as well as finish up the last two commissions I had.
But first things first. Gotta shake this damn mung.
cinagel: (Girly and Femmy)
Normal though is a relative in my life.;)

Had a WHIRLWIND weekend! Max and I treked up to Las Vegas to watch Doodle and Kelly tie the knot. It was my first Vegas wedding to witness so it was quite the event. I ended up Twittering the entire trip. Under the cut are the twitter pics I took of the weekend.  I wish we had the money/time off to stay one more day. Alas, We is broke! It was still a fantastic time. I love Vegas. And I especially love visiting Vegas with friends!
We got home yesterday around 5ish where I locked myself in my studio a feverishly worked away on the illuminated letters I'm painting for my sister mom and aunt for Christmas (photos to come!). I painted until my eyes were crossing then passed out. GREAT night sleep. Christmas time is the time when I feel the most motivated creatively. Its nice to channel all of this energy into making Christmas gifts this year. It makes me feel fulfilled.:)

Anyways, Vegas Pics!

cinagel: (Bored)

Aw Hell. Left my purse at home. Which means I left my wallet and my phone at home too. Here's hoping I don't get pulled over on the way home... Oh Yay, and my tea bag ruptured in my cup. *grump grump grump*
Shake it off Cindy. Shake it off.
Damn, I'm tired.

Anyways...Its December now, isn't it? Wow.
I'm hoping I can convince Max that we should get our tree this weekend. I'm wanting to decorate hard core so it starts feeling a bit more like the Holidays around the Chateau de Nom Nom. Got a bit wanting for the holidays after chatting with mom and Leelee on the phone yesterday. My life has been a complete blurr since August and I really want to try and slow down and just ENJOY the season for a while. Its working...kinda. Eh, I've just been dead on my feet the last couple months. I kinda need a break. Looking forward to visiting home for that break. REALLY looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.
The next two weekends are pretty booked. Winter Arts this Saturday then next weekend is Dan's wedding. I think the weekend after is one I have free. I'm kinda guarding it with my life at the moment. I would like to have one weekend to myself to sit in my PJs and do nothing of any great importance. We shall see...WE SHALL SEEEEEEE.

Almost done with the Italian Ren I've been puttering with this week. Just have the hand sewing left on it.  I'd like to do more details on it if possible. We shall see if time allows. I'll try and take more photos tomorrow. I also may try to slam one other project out tomorrow depending on my laziness upon the morrow.  If what I finish on my Italian is something I like, I will probably put it up for view at Winter Arts on Saturday. If it looks like crap, I'll put it in the closet. *L* The important think here is I am getting practice and getting more conifdent with my work.

And this site makes me drool. http://realmofvenus.renaissanceitaly.net/ . Seriously, it makes me want to go home immediately and sew.

And this site makes me laugh my butt off http://gofugthyself.blogspot.com/. I am in no way a period nazi for SCA, that's for damn sure. But even I have to blink at some of the stuff of the interwebs vendors consider period. The Nitpicky stuff about films on the site I don't completely agree with. Because costuming designing for historical reenactment and costuming designing for a film/play I feel are two very different animals. Sometimes a costume designer has to fudge period a bit just to get their point across.  And some of the nitpicky things about people's garb makes me shrug. Honestly, If you're new to SCA all I care about is you cover your boobies and bits and at least attempt at looking somewhat period. Costume knowledge comes with time.
But those posts about ebay? Hilarity! PURE HILARITY!
cinagel: (Christmas Tree)

Wow, I have a lot of catch up on don't I?
I feel remotely bad because frankly I just haven't had the gumption to really write any entries at all. I've been wanting more to keep my hands busy in other ways. Which means that I've been making a lot of hand made Christmas gifts lately.
I will be updating the costume blog soon. Started yet ANOTHER project. Want to get some in progress shots. I think its going to turn out really lovely....Kinda going nutzo on the details.

Anyways, to Recap!

Thanksgiving = Win and awesome!

I gorged myself. Seriously. It was not a healthy thing to do. I'm STILL bloated too. OYE! This is what happens when all the great cooks of the Iron Maiden get together for a feast. I end up immoble on the couch.
Totally worth it though.
It was the Pie-pocolypse for me. I made four pies; two key lime and two pumpkin. The pumpkin was pretty much devourored. The keylime is ALMOST devoured. I'm pretty proud of my pie prowess. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] banshea AGAIN for the pumpkin Pie Receipe!
[livejournal.com profile] crzydemona  spent the holiday weekend with us. I had SUCH a blast. We hung out, eat too much, caught a showing of Harry Potter 7 (which was OMG AWESOME IN SO MANY WAYS!), and generally did some fun girly bonding.
And Max is the king of the mighty fine Ham.

Christmas is fast approaching. I'm happy for it in a melencholy way. Its going to be a very odd Christmas for the Kinnard clan this year. This is mostly due to the fact that my Uncle Mike has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I've known for a while now but honestly I just haven't felt like mentioning it much online. He's fighting it though for as long as he can and generally being Uncle Mike, which means he is reaminng upbeat with a smile. And honestly right now he looks and sounds great. The chemo hasn't started yet though so I'm sure that will probably change. Though right now all we're doing is keeping positive and planning on enjoying what little time we have left with him. So this Christmas is going to be bitter sweet for all of us. Trying to not dwell on the bad and just feel blessed that whatever powers that may be desided to grant us some extra time with him. Feeling very grateful for that. So this Christmas is going to be both special and sad for me. If I seem a bit overly sentimental and sensitive this year about the holidays, please try and understand what is going on in my head. :)

On an upbeat note, I plan to spoil my newphews rotten this year the best I can. I'm hoping to do a cross stitch bib for little Tommy that says baby's first Christmas on it. I've been zooming on the cross stitch so I think I can slam it out. I also need to pick up some hotwheels for Danny, then plot with Max on what awesome nerd gift we're going to pick up for Shawn. He's old enough to appreciate the nerd-ity.  Max and I are probably going to pick up a tree next week. We're helpnig Burke and Beth out by taking over the Iron Maiden Yule party this year. Still don't have a ton of decorations but eh, I can improvise. I also need to plot with [livejournal.com profile] tigrise and [livejournal.com profile] brooklynx  over our anunal gathering of the holiday gargoyles at Macaroni Grill. Last year was epic *LOL*.

In non Holiday news:
-Sewing sewing sewing AGAIN! I have gotten bit by the creativity bug HARD this week. Winter Arts is this Saturday and I'd like to have at least ONE thing to show. We'll see if I accomplish this. Regardless on if I have or don't, I've been having a blast getting my hands dirty again.

-Planning on picking up a pencil again soon and sketching. its been OMG a MONTH since my last sketch. But I"m shaking off the emo artist mood and desided to get back on the horse...yes this also means SCANING the commissions I have sitting in my book. I suck, I know.

-Learned blackwork and more cross stitching. This has been an awesome way to keep my hands busy during down time at the desk.

-I think I may have enough cash to pick up some green paint to FINALLY paint my studio doors. Very stoked for this. Also thinking of making a new Ironing Board cover in the colors of my studio just to keep with the look. Need to find an Ironing board cover pattern though.

-Going to be working with Capt'n soon on the new charter for Middle Eastern Guild. We need to present it on Saturday.

-Etsy store is still not up. I am aware of this. I'm working on it! I've just had other projects in my way. >.<

And that...is that.

cinagel: (Snuggle Sleep)
I haven't been posting much this week. Mostly because I have been exhausted beyond all reason.
There's really no reason for me to be this tired too. I have been getting plenty of sleep, started exercising again, been trying to eat right when possible...I think maybe its some sort of cold I have coming on.
Great, just in time for the Mother In Law visit!
No, I am NOT pregnant. Stop asking. ;D

So I am planning on crashing hard after work today, then baronial council, then crashing again..then somewhere in between that getting some housework done. Then night shift tomorrow at the desk (Luckily this means sleeping in tomorrow!) then Friday I clean up best i can before the Mom In Law comes in for an overnight trip...then I donno past that.  Probably more sleep if I have my way.

Some awesome things:
Calafian Anniversary was full of win and awesome. Max organized a fantastic feast, Mark and Ty got their Cresents (A VERY dserved award), and I ended up getting my Serpent's Flame for costuming...which shocked the Hell out of me. Still reeling about that one.

Starting a new Vampire game on Tuesdays. Old World of Darkness. Playing a Malcavian. Oh THIS is going to be interesting.

Finally considering diving into that beautiful blue silk I bought over a year ago to make another Italian Ren..because I'm bored.

Sister's Birthday coming up. The big 4-0. I want to get her something cool. Was considering sending her a dozen chocolate dipped straberries. She used to love those.

Dan and Kelly's wedding on Dec 11th in Vegas! WOO! We're going for a very quick weekend.

I'm finally joining the 21st century and getting myself a smartphone. Getting my Droid in the mail hopefully today. WOO!

Cindy needs a nap. A LOOOOOOONG nap.

Capt'n and I carpool to the museum on Sundays. On the way home last night I ran past him the idea of starting up a drumming and dancing class at our place. So one coversation lead to another, then another, then another...
Now it looks like the two of us will be starting the Middle Eastern Guild back up again.  We'll be starting in the new year mainly with organizing dance and drum practice once a month in the studio. Then we'll start doing actual academic classes after we get a bit established.
I'm kinda stoked for this.
I'm also amused how I constantly get myself into these situations. O.o

Not gonna talk about the election...because it makes my head hurt.
INSTEAD I will talk about shit that's not important...because it doesn't make my head hurt.

I ordered two belly dancing DVDs off of amazon yesterday. Lately I have been really jonesin' to get back into it. I'm WAY out of practice. The only time I really do hit the floor with dancing is at May War. And trust me, its NOT pretty. But despite the fact that I look like a hippo on Rollerblades while I dance I figured at least I can feel confidant enough next time to be the BEST DAMN HIPPO ON ROLLERBLADES THERE IS!  Unfortunately there are no classes in San Diego I can make it to due to my work schedule. And I really can't afford classes right now. But I'm watching the schedules and hopefully I'll find something. We shall see. Until ten, Got some DVDs to help me with my fix.

Working on losing some weight. My jeans have been fitting too tightly lately which is a huge sign. So back on Watchwatchers I have been. I know i could probably just go out and buy bigger jeans but frankly, I don't have the money to spend on bigger jeans. So I rather just work towards fitting into the jeans I already have. I'm hoping to drop a couple pounds by Thanksgiving so I can wear my jeans and be COMFORTABLE in them. I think I can do it.
The big thing is I need to get more active. I am feeling restless and antsy and that tends to happen when I've been sitting on my duff too much. If I get moving, I'll be less likely to be cranky..and I'll tone up a bit.
...I really need to embrace being a hot chick. Seriously. I'm not saying that I am the end all be all but damnit, I am easy on the eyes at least. Need to embrace that.

Whatelse...hmm.
I step up as Baronial Chattelaine in two weeks...whoa. O.o. Its going to be an interresting ride! Calafian Anniversary approaches and I'm excited for it. Max is working on the feast, I'm stepping up into office, and there will be lots of wackiness to ensue. I still need to finish putting the pearls on the Italian Ren I bought at GWW and make a new chamise for it. That will be my weekend project coming up probably. Saturday is Colleen's Birthday so I'm stoked to get going to San Diego Deserts to celebrate with her and some folks. Now that i"m off Antibiotics, I can try some of their wine. WOOO!
I also may have a leeeeetle extra spending money coming up to buy some Lush..I HOPE I HOPE I HOPE! I haven't bought Lush since my first year anniversary. I need my fix. Need it hard.

Oh, I missed meme Monday but eh, I"ll catch up next week.

Aaaaaand we're back! And since My meme and this post is about the same thing, I shall combind them!

Day 06 – Your hobbies
It probably comes as no surprise that the SCA is my main hobby these days. What I love about it is how it combinds all these other hobbies I love into one big squishy place of creativity.
And while I'm on the subject, Here's more information about Great Western War!

I'm wiped but not as bad as I expected to be which is a good thing. It was my first Great Western War and I have to admit I really enjoyed it! I wish we were able to take an extra day so we could have had two full days there instead of one.  Eh, maybe in the future. Overall I had a great time. The site is beautiful and the shopping was plenty! Well for me it was. I picked up some lovely shinies for myself there that I will take some photos of...including a GORGOUS Italian Ren that was only $65! Seriously. The merchant is a friend of ours and she said there was an imperfection in the fabric (which you can't even see). It fit as if it was tailored to me so I snagged that puppy so fast it made her head spin! its corderoy and two toned in blue, unlike almost anything I currently have in my garb wardrobe right now. I plan to go back and do some embroidery and beading around the neckline and the sleeves. I also want to make a new chamise to go under it. My Persian Chamises weren't really cutting it.
Jen, Ellyn, and I ended up hitting one Hellava party held by the Barony of Gyldenholt. Hilarity insued. They had stilt racing, bottle jousting (Which pretty much consisted of two opponents standing on wine bottles ands trying to knock eachother down), and regular jousting which included a teeny wooden horse on wheels. Put some booze into this mix and we a recipe for hilarity. One of the most fun parties I've been to. And I have to give cred for the Baron of Gyldenholt. He fell off that wooden horse, landed face first in the dirt...didn't spill a drop of his beer. BRAVO SIR!
I also have become Ace's consort on the fighting field. Max fights for my name on the Raiper field but as me and Ace chatted we both thought I needed someone to fight for it on the heavies field too. So I asked...well..TOLD Ace actually, that she should "Totally fight for me!". And she agreed. And after two very large mugs of mimosas, we staggered off to get a fighting favor for her so she could do so. I ended up finding a finger puppet of a donkey. We tied it to her belt and informed all within earshot that she was now fighting for Giovanna's ass. And after we sobered up we still thought it was hilarious so it stuck. I'm going to make her a real favor soon. Either a belt favor or an armband (Have to ask her which she'd like better). Still doing something like a donkey head on it simply because the joke still amuses me.
As usual, I come home from any SCA event and I get bitten by the creativity bug. I already want to start working on more projects and garb. Must keep...brain from...overwhemling me!!

I took some photos of the site mostly. Not too many because I was having too much fun to remember my camera. I'll post them this week for my Photo Fall post.:)

....GOD I need some coffee! O.o

Off Topic ...I love you, Jasmine tea.
Back on topic....
For some odd reason, I took a ton of photos of the Leodamus tourney. I really have no idea why I did. They've been sitting here on my LJ for a while. I figured now is as good a time as any to post them considering I declaired it Photo Fall this morning.
So here we go!

Its going to be a dull day at the museum today...and I forgot both my Lucet (which Ketill so kindly taught me howt to use yesterday) and my Kimehimo (which I was on a roll recently). Dangit. I wanted to keep my hands busy today! Luckily I brought my sketchbook so not all is lost.

Leif Erickson was yesterday and though it was a small tourney it was a total blast. I ended up getting all decked out in my new Viking gear for it. Granted, I'm not a huge fan on how Viking garb looks on me, but I had fun wearing it and it turned out very nice. But I think I'll stick to my Persians and my Italians for my usual look.  It also was the first tourney I started doing more Chatelaine duities. I will be stepping up offically in November. I'm looking forward to it! I think its going to be a fun job. The only downside of the tourney was the back of my neck got  sunburned. UGH! I forgot to put sunscreen on the back of my neck. And since I wore my hair in pigtails instead of down like i usually do...well..yeah. I'm a bit fried back there. It looks better today than it did last night luckily. I hate sunburns with a flaming passion...no pun intended.
I took a small amount of pics.

Sherief kicks some ice...Oh God thats awful.

Vikings Ahoy! )
