Damnit Capt'n! You ALWAYS do this to me!
Capt'n sat Max and I down and had us watch The Lost Room which is insanely awesome. Apparently it was a miniseries on SciFi that I completely missed. Now I'm addicted. And HOW many series do I still have to get through? Lets see, I still have to finish the first second third etc. season of Lost, the second season of Dexter, the first season of Avatar, the second season of Dead Like Me, and attempt to check out Jerico. I know there's another one in there. Now I'm all into The Lost Room.
Luckily its only six episodes and we watched I think four last night. So we only have two to go. But still. The amount of TV series I'm now trying to finish is staggering.

Anyways, The Lost Room is insanely unique and intriguing. What I like so far is it really doesn't explain a whole lot about what is going on. Its just happening and you're kinda screwed. I love shows that leave a lot to your imagination...and there's also a pen that will set you on fire and a comb that stops time. That makes it awesome just in itself. The cast seems to consist of "that Guy"'s. You know the actor. The ones you see in everything but aren't famous enough for you to remember their names. So when you see them you point and say "Hey! Its THAT guy!". They're all very accomplished "that guy" actors as well.

If you like that everyday scifi genre (the type that is set in the real world, but is just REALLY off) this is a great series to check out.
So go rent it...NOW.
Seriously...I'll wait.

So Remember all those things I said I'd so last night?
Yeah...I blew them off and went to see Indiana Jones 4 instead with Max.
It was fun. Not amazing like the first three films. Something seemed to be missing from this one which kinda made me sad. I still feel that the ending of Last Crusade was the best way to end the series, with Indy riding off into the sunset. But Crystal Skull was fun when it came to tying up a few lose ends and had some great moments that were very much like the original films. I was pretty impressed with Shia LaBeouf. He wasn't playing his typical Shia LaBeouf character of the bubbling nerd boy. He played Indy Jr Jr rather well and if they desided to continue the franchise with Mutt as the lead I'd go see it in a heart beat. He really felt like young Indy to me. In fact, I think he was underused in the film. Cate Blanchett as usual is my hero and I loved her as the campy Russian scientist. Her and Shia were the two things that really made the movie feel like an Indiana Jones movie to me...which is bizarre since they were the two things that were never IN an Indiana Jones movie before. I think it had to do with the fact that neither seemed tired or old and both seemed to be having a blast in the film. The plot was also fun and different and, thank the gods, they did not deside to rely heavily on CGI. Yes there was CGI but it wasn't Star Wars 1,2, and 3 CGI.
One pet peeve. Why bother introducing characters that Indy apparently knew for years when you could have just freakin' brought back Salah? I understood they didn't bring back Marcus since Denholm Elliot died years ago but I missed Salah in this movie. Come on, how hard is it to get John Rhys-Davies back, huh? Was he too busy filming Anaconda 4?

But it was far better than I predicted and I did have a good time. I may buy it on DVD just so I can have the complete series, I doubt I'll go see it again. I'm still perfectly happy with Last Crusade as the final film.

Indiana Jones And the Last Crusade is on...:)

That was the movie than began my  crush on Indiana Jones. The only one of of the Trillogy I saw in the Theater.

I'm gonna go squee a while.

Okay that was pointless....Perhaps I inhaled too many hot glue fumes at rehersal tonight.

Put "I've seen __ of these 168 movies" in the subject line and repost. SUPPOSEDLY if you've seen over 85 movies, you have no life. Mark the ones you've seen. There are 168 movies on this list. Put your score in header and re-post.

(Note: No life, my ass! Movies are a social event in my world)

So yeah...when did Robert Downey Jr become so damn hot?
Seriously.
I don't remember him ever being hot. Goofy? Yes. Funny? Yes..But OMFGHOT!!? When did this happen?
Not that I mind.

Yes, obviously I saw Iron Man last night. Max, Capt'n, Rebekka, Ace, Lou, and some of Ace's friends. And I have to admit, I LOVED that movie!! I'm going to try to convince Max that we should see it again tonight because the awesomeness of the movie has overwhelmed me.
Now I don't know anything about Iron Man to be honest. And for a long time I kept getting Iron Man confused with Steel (yes, Bad geek. No biscut) so my interrest in seeing Iron Man was pretty nill. The Trailer did spark my interrest when I saw that  Robert Downey Jr was the lead. I always had a soft spot for that guy.  According to Max and Capt'n they did a fantastic job adapting the comic to screen. And Obviously the non Iron Man fans were completely pleased as well so I think it was a success.
And despite not being an Iron Man fan, yes I DID watch after the credits and totally understood what was going on. I may be uninformed, but come on, I'm not THAT ignorant. ;D

Reguardless, Iron man = Much Win And Awesome!

And Indie 4 trailer = Much Drooling.

In other news:
The parents visited and it was a grand success.  We got a TON of wedding stuff done which puts my mind at ease.  I'm still in the Holy cow, we're getting in five months type of mode and I have a ton of stuff to do. Luckily I got the pressing stuff done so now its just a grand series of little details that are bound to drive me crazy.

BTW, anyone want to come over to make favors with me in a couple months? It will involve a lot of chocolate coins, netting, and tiny tresure chests. It will be fun. I'll provide the rum.
Rum makes us work better...really.

I feel better!
Well the cold feels likes it finally in remission. In other words, I woke up and DIDN'T feel like ass for a change! Still stuff, still a bit coughy, but BACK on my feet. YAY!

I went to SDMA this morning and helped Beth out with Art Alive. It was really a fun time! I just did some volunteer meet and greet smile and point people in the right direction stuff. I got to see some great arty and a lot of wonderful floral arrangements. Beth gave me two free tickets to see the event tomorrow too so I'm taking [livejournal.com profile] rogue_78 tomorrow to stare at the art with me.
I got done around noon and Max was sleeping since he's on the Grave yard shifts again. So instead of going home and making noise to wake him up, I desided to finally get that damn shopping stuff out of the way. I got new jeans! Yay! Best part? I'm no longer a size 14! I'm a size 12 now! YAY smaller butt! So I picked up three pairs of nw jeans at JC Penny's. I also picked up five new sexy bra and panties sets since there was a huge underwear sale there as well. I don't care if that's TMI. I got cute and cheap undies!
Also, I got a really great shirt from INC at Macy's. I had a credit there on my card so pretty much it was free. Also, I stopped by Target later on with Max and picked up a new lamp for our living room since Scout pretty much destroyed our other lamp when she was a kitten. I also copycatted [livejournal.com profile] ravendragonwing and picked up some glass gallon containers to keep all my LUSH bubble bars and Bath Bombs in. It really helps clear up the clutter in the bathroom.
We stopped by Best Buy and picked up some Blue Ray DVDs too. Got The Fifth Element, Casino Royale, and the 5 disc collectors edition of Blade Runner. And I picked up a copy of Blades of Glory...because thats one of my guilty pleasure comedies I love to watch over and over.

So thats what I did with most of my Tax refund. YAY! I'm enjoying it now because I tend to go shopping once in a blue moon.
Hell, I'm just happy I have pants that fit my new butt now! SQUEEE!

On The Mend

So I"m feeling better than I did on Wednesday. I still can't stop coughing though and that's driving me NUTS! I have Abs of steel from all the freakin coughing I've been doing.
Otherwise, it looks like I'm on the mend.

Spent the last few days draining on the couch. Though I did manage to work on some Dollfie clothes (I had the urge) and to start working on Save the date favors for my SCA friends. I ordered Save the Date cards, but since they were a bit pricey I could only afford a certaint amount. So I'm sewing some save the date belt favors for our SCA friends and friends who get what they are. This helps us afford the invites I have to order for everyone. Looks like they're going to turn out decently.

Yes, even when sick, I need to keep occupied or I go crazy.

Max ended up calling in sick today because his throat has been sore. I really hope he doesn't catch this mung. Colds tend to stick to him far longer than they stick to me.

Oh, and I ended up signing up for Netflix. So far I've been very satified with them...and Max added about 100+ movies to our Que..including some MST3K quality films. Oh Lord. We watched Blades of Glory last night and I was really suprised on how funny it was. Hell, even if the script sucked, the costumes alone could carry that movie.
Tonight I FINALLY get to see Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. FINALLY! It seems whenever I was going to watch this movie, something happened. The powers that be did not want me to see this movie it would seem.

Anyways, going to go get dressed and Max is taking me to get some Pho to make me feel better. Mmmm Pho.

I'm suprised this is on YouTube.
This is an incredibly charming Russian cartoon from the 1960's. I saw it randomly on TV once and completely loved it.
The animation style is very nice and the whole story is just sweet.:)
Too bad this is only the first half of the cartoon. The storm sequence and the ending is very fun and cute.
cinagel: (AAAHHH!)
Yup. I saw it.
I LOVED it. I wasn't expecting to like it either. Usually when a film gets hyped that much my imagination tends to make it 10 times better than it really is. But I have to admit, I found the movie very fun. I wouldn't call it the BEST movie of 2008 nor would I say its more intense than I Am Legend but it is a fun roller coaster ride.
Warnings-If you get motion sickness, you may want to either skip this, take a dramamine before the movie, or sit WAY in the back. I don't get motion sickness. But unfortunately due to sinus problems and a belly overfull with pizza, I did. But this only made we want to see it again because I missed a few details. (Anyone in SD wanting to see this with me again?)
The monster was a wonderful design. It was both creepy and giant. I was expecting a Godzilla rip off. What I got was something very different. Much to my suprise, they did show the monster. But in the style of Alien, they showed the monster brifely enough that it made it very mysterious, yet you didn't feel cheated with your views of it.
