Weekend wasn't too bad.:)
Oct. 4th, 2009 11:40 amDespite the bad news this week I had a pretty good weekend. Friday I spent getting more of the house in order. I threw away a lot of trash, put tools away, and unpacked even more stuff. We now currently have a nice stack of empty boxes that I will probably pass back to PJ since she's moving up to the bay area. The office/study is slowly taking shape. I put some books up on the top closet shelf which dresses the place up nicely. We're also getting our computer desks back into order slowly. I need to sit down and unpack those boxes so all my stuff on my desk (pens, post-its, wacky nic-nacs) are back in place.
When Max came home we desided to check out Jeromes in El Cajon and do some sofa pricing. It was just going to be pricing at first. We looked at that lovely victorian-esque sofa but unfortunately it had two strikes against it 1-the fabric looked a lot more old grandma than it did online and 2- Not very comfortable. Alas. BUT we stumbled upon a really nice L-shaped couch that was both attractive and OMFG insanely comfortable! And it was also much cheaper than we expected AND we managed to get 1 year financing on it with no interrest....and they threw in an ottoman. SCORE! So we ended up picking it up and having it delivered that night. And believe me, it was a GOD SEND! My back was not feeling too great with sitting in our camp chairs every night so reclining on a big comfy couch with the hubby? Aawwwww yeah. And since one side of the couch has a chaise built into it we both have room to stretch out. The L shape also creates a really cool looking TV nook. Its going to look really awesome when we get the fish tank up. LOVE THIS THING!
The next day...after almost falling asleep on our couch the night before...We went of the Leif Erikson tourney up at UCSD. Its been a while since Max and I went to an event. Actually, I think the last one we went to was May War. Wow. O.o. Max managed to get back onto the rapier field and placed 3rd in Rapier that day. WOOT! It was nice to see everyone again! I always forget how much I miss doing SCA stuff. One cool and surprising thing, Lady Bridget who is head of the Costumer's Guild approached me and asked if I could teach a class at the guild. O.o. I was honored AND I was shocked. Mostly because I didn't even think anyone other than the Maiden and a couple other friends in SCA knew I even sewed. So I accepted and now I'm wracking my brain on what to friggin teach. I've never been to a guild meeting since they used to fall on days where I was doing something. I suppose now is a good time to go and see what the teaching style is. Reguardless, I was flattered.:)
The rest of the day was pretty mellow. Ty and I watched the fighting, chatted with old friends, I got pestered into returning to Rapier pratice by Aveniel ;), and there was a lovely memorial for Kolfinna at the event. Everyone one wore orange arm bands in her honor which was very touching.
Going to the tourney now has me itching to get my studio set up. I have the urge to make garb and other stuff! Well now I HAVE to because Ellyn gave me table space for Winter Arts in November so I better represent for the Maiden. I'm kind of excited for this. Its giving me a kick in the butt to get up, get my studio in order, and actualyl work on the things I've been wanting to do for the last three months. his week I'm going to attempt to get the studio primered. I'll need to get some track lighting installed too....maybe after Vegas.
1 1/2 weeks until our 1 year Aniversary Vegas Trip! WOOOOOO!
