Hmmm...Wedding Hurdle #2
Aug. 13th, 2008 10:38 amSlight delema..
Not a big one, but one I need to figure out the answer to. Luckily I asked ahead of time about this.
So for our wedding we have table place settings, favors, Table names, and such for each table as well as a guest book to set up, sketches in frames, and other such small little things for the reception.
The delema is the hotel will not set this up since its not in the contract.
The florist cannot do this either since they will be dealing with the flowers and such. Now I did know this going in so this isn't like a huge WTF suprise for me at all or anything.
But now with the wedding date looming ever closer, I need to find someone who will do this. And this isn't a little job..we're expecting about 180 people at this wedding since my family is OMGHUGE!!!
The hotel guy said I could hire a wedding corrdinator to do this but frankly, there has been enough money spent on this wedding and I rather not shell out more for someone to set up little place settings. Its still an option though if in a pinch. Kinda an important detail I shouldn't completely skimp on.
I rather not have the wedding party do it since they're more than likely already going to be running around crazy like for the ceremony. And I'm not sure if that is even a job the wedding party should do. I don't want to stress them out.
I could ask a friend but it feels kinda tacky asking someone who I invited to set things up and miss cocktails. I don't want to overstep my bounds.
And my parents are right out because I know the stress level that will be involved for them.
I know that Max and I sure as Hell can't do it.
I have the option of asking my neighbor Jim if he could help since he does wedding corrdinating for a living. But he's not sure if he can make it to our wedding as a guest. Also, there's that tackiness factor there that makes me feel weird about asking him. Though I can ask him about the situation. He may have some solutions.
My sister had one of her artsy friends do this for her since she made all the place settings and such. I'll be putting together my own so its a little different of a situation.
So yeah..a bit of a delema. Any suggestions?
Please no "Well the hotel should do it, those fuckers!" Suggestions. Like I said, I knew this going into it. Just something I thought of NOW and thank god not two weeks before hand.
