Oh me and my wacky hobbies...

I'm sure most of ya'll know by now that I've gotten my old childhood dollhouse back now that Max and I own a real house...and it is MAGNIFCENT. For those of you interested in my creepy hobbie involving small things, I'll post photos soon. I still need to wall paper a room...yes I said wall paper. Yes I am wall papering a doll house. And yes, its GLORIOUSLY FUN!!
I have to give my dad and the guy who helped him build my old doll house a lot of credit. The thing is a tank. It has been in storage with just a sheet over it and it still looks like it did the day I saw it on Christmas morning. Not to mention they put on siding AND shingles which is just awesome. It lacks a few details here and there but they were left off with the intention that someday I would add them on...which I plan to. I haven't played with my Dollhouse since...I believe the last time I touched it was when I was a senior in highschool. Then I went to college and got swept up in school work and other "adult" things and it was put away in the garage and forgotten about until a few years back. And I LOVE having it back! It definitely is a piece of my childhood in my home now. Not to mention whenever I feel stressed out I can go into the guest room and shut myself away with my iPod on and arrange furniture. Its almost a form of weird girly meditation.
So far I've wall papered the place. When I was little I painted the house since I wanted color...and wow did I paint it horribly. In my defense I was only 10 at the time and didn't have the best paints at my disposal.  I used to have wall paper but it accidently got thrown out by my parents when they were doing a closet clean out. I always wanted wall paper but at the time..HOO WEE it was expensive and therefore not an option for a gradschooler to buy on their own. So on a whim I googled Dollhouse wall paper and found this nifty little site which gives you free downloadable scaled wall paper for dollhouses...all organized by period.
SCORE!
Just some printing up on card stock and VIOLA! I got me my wall paper! And it has been really easy to put up! Not onlt that but you can also print up vintage magzine covers, food items, and children's games.
So I have been going to town. I got 4 of the 6 rooms done...and room for more minature crap if I like.
And I do like.

But being the wacky chick that I am with my oh so strange hobbies, I am considering getting myself another smaller dollhouse...because I believe I need a summer cottage.
OH THE MADNESS!
I love the hobby, it relaxes me, and I'd like to attempt to build my own house so I can detail it outside and in. Kinda like building a ship in a bottle...but its a house and will have dolls in it....okay its nothing like building a ship in a bottle.
ANYWAYS...
So I am working my way to my first ever doll house kit. Instead of just shelling the cash out because I want it, I desided to use this as motivation for me to lose some pounds. I've been wanting to get back to my wedding weight anyways but my motivation has been shit on even the best days. Therefore I am dangling a carrot infront of myself to get to where I want to go. The agreement I've made with myself is when I finally reach my goal weight, I buy myself my dollhouse kit...which means I'm only 12 pounds away from my dollhouse! Also, with every weight loss goal I hit...I'm buying something new for my current house.
Yes I'm insane.
Whatever motivates me though!
But I'm very excited with my little plan here and I'm going to go at it with gusto. Which means if anyone wants to go a walkin' with me in Balboa park for exersise, speak up! I got me a dollhouse to earn!!
I've been torn between a few kits. I especially like the greenleaf houses because they're nicely detailed but not too over the top to drive me nuts.
The Willow is an interesting model. The exterior is okay but I like the interior layout a lot.
The Lily has a kick ass exteior and cool windows.
The Glencroft is awesome. Not many rooms but its a TUDOR COTTAGE!!!
The Westville is very cute and it has a little storage closet built into the stair way. HEE!

So those are the canidates so far. I doubt I will lose the weight overnight so I have plenty of time to figure this one out.  Can't say I'm not excited...cause I am. Oh BOY I am.

In other weird hobby news, I found me a filter for our fish tank! Max and I've been dragging our feet with getting our tank up since the filter would cost us $200+. Ty, Colleen and i found a GREAT one for only $90 at Octopus Garden up in Clairmont. WOOO! So the big piece of the tank is bought! Now I just have to get the decor in there and start cycling it!
WOO!

And thus ends the long entry on my wacky hobbies.
