cinagel: (Muraders)
I am draaaaaaaaaging today.
I flew back from Montreal yesterday afternoon. Traveling really sucks the life out of me. The upside though is this is I get to sleep on on Thursday since I'm working the night shift that evening. So I can't complain. I"m looking forward to waking up late. I so need some sleep! I've been going like a bullet since October started...whoa. O.o

Regardless, I had so much fun going to Rob's wedding this weekend. I got to hang with Karine and Jen and much mischief was managed I assure you.  We surprised Rob by flying Jen up for the wedding. The look on his face...priceless. Completely priceless. I also got to meet his new wife Kristy and she is a hoot and a half lemme tell you. I liked her immediately and really can't think of anyone who would be better for him.  Also, the food and the booze was top notch so I went back to Karine's house after the wedding very sated.
Also got to touch base with some Canadian friends I haven't seen in years as well as meet a few new ones. Overall, a fantastic trip done with fantastic friends. Viva La Canada!
I have pics to post of both the wedding AND of GWW. Alas, last week i was so harried with getting ready to head out I forgot to post photos in general. I'll post some up this week. now that I have no major looming deadlines hovering over my head.

Oh yeah, and ITs meme monday isn't it?

Day 07 – Your best friend
So I really don't have just ONE best friend. I have several close friends. And each one is close to me in a differet way. I never really been the type to just have one. I suppose I like variety...which reminds me, I so want to buy myself a box of truffles this week.
Hey Max? Our aniversary is this week...so...if you suddenly have the urge to buy me some truffles..hint *cough* hint.
ANYWAYS I'd have to say if I have to pinpoint people to call my best friends I would have to say my bridesmaids were the ladies I consider my closest gal pals. That would be Julie, Ty, Chelle, Jen, and my sister Lisa.  Each one represented a special part of my life actially. Julie is my oldest girlfriend. We met my freshman year of highschool and still remain close as sisters to this day. Ty is the first close girlfriend I ever had in San Diego. I latched onto her very quickly and she has been my partner and crime and shoulder to cry on since I met Max. Chelle was my college roomate and confidant during my time at SFSU. She was the one who helped me figure out exactly who I am and what I wanted in life. Jen of course is my friend from the Gargoyles Fandom. She was my refuge all through gradschool and gave me a lot of strength during a time I needed it most. And of course Lisa is my sister...and I always lack words to really describe how I feel about her. The word sister pretty much says it all when you get down to it.
cinagel: (Ren Bodice)
Aaaaaand we're back! And since My meme and this post is about the same thing, I shall combind them!

Day 06 – Your hobbies
It probably comes as no surprise that the SCA is my main hobby these days. What I love about it is how it combinds all these other hobbies I love into one big squishy place of creativity.
And while I'm on the subject, Here's more information about Great Western War!

I'm wiped but not as bad as I expected to be which is a good thing. It was my first Great Western War and I have to admit I really enjoyed it! I wish we were able to take an extra day so we could have had two full days there instead of one.  Eh, maybe in the future. Overall I had a great time. The site is beautiful and the shopping was plenty! Well for me it was. I picked up some lovely shinies for myself there that I will take some photos of...including a GORGOUS Italian Ren that was only $65! Seriously. The merchant is a friend of ours and she said there was an imperfection in the fabric (which you can't even see). It fit as if it was tailored to me so I snagged that puppy so fast it made her head spin! its corderoy and two toned in blue, unlike almost anything I currently have in my garb wardrobe right now. I plan to go back and do some embroidery and beading around the neckline and the sleeves. I also want to make a new chamise to go under it. My Persian Chamises weren't really cutting it.
Jen, Ellyn, and I ended up hitting one Hellava party held by the Barony of Gyldenholt. Hilarity insued. They had stilt racing, bottle jousting (Which pretty much consisted of two opponents standing on wine bottles ands trying to knock eachother down), and regular jousting which included a teeny wooden horse on wheels. Put some booze into this mix and we a recipe for hilarity. One of the most fun parties I've been to. And I have to give cred for the Baron of Gyldenholt. He fell off that wooden horse, landed face first in the dirt...didn't spill a drop of his beer. BRAVO SIR!
I also have become Ace's consort on the fighting field. Max fights for my name on the Raiper field but as me and Ace chatted we both thought I needed someone to fight for it on the heavies field too. So I asked...well..TOLD Ace actually, that she should "Totally fight for me!". And she agreed. And after two very large mugs of mimosas, we staggered off to get a fighting favor for her so she could do so. I ended up finding a finger puppet of a donkey. We tied it to her belt and informed all within earshot that she was now fighting for Giovanna's ass. And after we sobered up we still thought it was hilarious so it stuck. I'm going to make her a real favor soon. Either a belt favor or an armband (Have to ask her which she'd like better). Still doing something like a donkey head on it simply because the joke still amuses me.
As usual, I come home from any SCA event and I get bitten by the creativity bug. I already want to start working on more projects and garb. Must keep...brain from...overwhemling me!!

I took some photos of the site mostly. Not too many because I was having too much fun to remember my camera. I'll post them this week for my Photo Fall post.:)

....GOD I need some coffee! O.o
cinagel: (zombie Luv)

So I got this epic Meme I (foolishly) decided to do. So instead of feeling bad for not doing it every day, I desided to designate Mondays as Meme Mondays just so I can get through the damn thing. Because there are days when I really just don't want to bother doing a meme.
So Meme Monday begins today, damnit.
I also decided that October (Which is my favorite month) Is going to mark the begining of Photo Fall (see all these snappy names I'm coming up with?! I'm so clever!...Okay, beat me now.). Anyways, I figured that with so many things happening between October and December (Great Western War, Rob's Wedding, Halloween, Max and my Aniversary, Thanksgiving, and so on and so on...) that I really should start training myself to not only record some of these moments on film but to actually post and share...instead of being a lazy butt like I have been.
So to recap, we have the beginings of Meme Monday and Photo Fall today. Lets see how committed I remain to this.

Anyways,
the rest of that damn meme.

Day 05 – Your definition of love
You know, there are a LOT of versions of love out there. Love for a significant other, Love for your child, love for your family and friends. And each one feels vastly different from the other. At least in my experience it does. But I'm going to assume that this is more directed towards love for your significant other.
Love, for me at least, isn't really all about the passion. Now I love my romance novels as the next gal but there is so much more to love than just the excitement, passion, and romance that these books capture...not that those factors don't play a big part in it all, because they do. It may be better if I just create a laundry list of what I think love contains. As trite as that seems, yes. But I'm a artist, not a writer. So there you go.

Someone who loves you..
  •  truly gets what you're about and doesn't want to change that.
  • laughs with you ...and maybe occasionally at you but not in a malicious manner.
  • isn't afraid to tell you when you're screwing up. But in turn also helps you fix the problem
  • may be annoyed with your quirks at times but accepts them because the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
  • teases you and can take a good teasing because they know (and you know) that there is no hate behind it.
  • holds your hair when you're puking.
  • doesn't trivialize your anxiety, sadness, or anger. But stays rational when you are not.
  • enjoys sitting in silence with you for a long amount of time.
  • doesn't mind doing those small things for you, like washing your socks or putting those dishes in the sink.
  • will attempt to fix your computer.
  • thinks that your laugh isn't as obnoxious as you think it is.
  • is amused by your wacky hobbies.
  • makes you giggle like a schoolgirl.
  • gives you that warm feeling in your chest whenever they say "I love you".
  • tries to NOT make your life difficult.
  • is a generous lover.
  • will give you an honest oppinion.
  • still plays a rousing game of  'grab ass' even after being together with you for years.
  • tries to surprise you on occasion.
  • lets you know how attractive you are to them verbally or non verbally.
  • is willing to compromise.
  • stands beside you when things are rough.
  • also will try to make those rough times as plesant as possible with a smile, a joke, or a hug.
  • thinks in terms of  "us" instead of "me" when it comes to the big decisions.
  • keeps their identity separate from yours.
  • does not own you...though on occasion its fun to tell them "I own your ass!" for comedy's sake.
  • isn't threatened by your success but instead revels in it.
  • thinks you're beautiful.
And...that's all I got right now.

Photo post later more than likely.:)
cinagel: (zombie Luv)
I have been really shitty keeping up on LJ this week haven't I?
Well things got both busy and boring at the same time...if that is at all possible. Trust me, it is.

The weekend though was FABULOUS which made me smile lots. On Friday [livejournal.com profile] wyngdlyon  aka Colleen and I went out to troll for fabric...which actually just turned into us wandering around Old Town San Diego looking at girlish things. We had lunch and Creole with  Ty then went to the Temecula Olive Oil Company (picked up some Roasted Garlic Olive Oil for Mr Max and some olive oil/lavander lotion for myself.) and found a cute fabric shop and bead shop in the area. We also found an adorable girly store called Bodytreats in that area. I picked up some of their handmade soap and I have to admit, I'm impressed with it. I think I'll go back someday and pick up some other bars of theirs. The day ended with us hitting Yardage Town in National City and contemplating both steampunk costumes and Halloween costumes. I picked up some awesomely obnoxious plaid fabric for my March Hare costume. It shall make a magnificent vest ...and an eye sore. WOO! I'll snap some photos of it later. I did find the perfect fabric for when I get started on my victorian gown. A beautiful bluish grey taffeta with bees embrodiered on it. But I didn't snag it yet since we think we can find it cheaper up in LA. So I have to be patient.  Eh, my patterns aren't even in yet so I want to wait until I get the right yardage number.  After Colleen went home I put together my Viking garb for the Leif Erickson tourney this Saturday. It turned out pretty spiffy if I do say so myself. pics to come. I still have to finish the decorative stitching on the apron dress seams.
Saturday was date day for me and Max. We haven't really gone out for one in...wow..three months or so? Its been a busy year for us. We slept in until 10am which was glorious then grabbed some lunch at our favorite noodle house Chopsticks...which we haven't been to in almost a year now. OOOH such good Ramen! We then caught a showing of Machette which I must say was full of WIN AND AWESOME! Holy crap that movie was funny as Hell! And my lvoe for Danny Trejo still is alive and well. Afterwards we hit Creole (yes again..I love Creole Cafe) just to get some bread pudding and coffee. I managed to drag Max to the Oilve Oil place so I could get him to taste some of their oils and vinegars.  SUCH good stuff! We went home with some Pomegranate Vinegar. I'm looking forward to max cooking with it. Its extremely tasty. We wandered old town, checked out the cigar shop for him, found out my favorite tea shop has closed (SADNESS!), then found a small wine tasting room where we chilled out for a while. Max treated me to wine tasting that night and bought us some chardonnay and Red Zin...SO GOOD! We meandered home finally and chilled on the couch watching Reign of Fire on HBO.
...Incidently I had a dream that night that I was IN  Reign of Fire and was Christian Bale's character's sister. I did a lot of fleeing for my life in that dream.

Sunday = Work then Boardwalk Empire in the evening...which is my new obsession on TV right now. SO GOOD! If you have not seen this, SEE IT! Steve Buscemi is awesome in it.

So overall, things have been pretty spiffy for me. This Weekend I have Leif Erickson to go to, then Max and I start preping for Great Western War. We're only hitting GWW for a weekend so it won't take as much prep as Estrella or May War does. And we're sharing Mark and Ty's Pavilion so we don't have to worry about packing the yurt so that makes life a LOT easier.  Just toileties, Garb and Max's fighting gear if he plans on suiting up over the weekend.

And Halloween Fast Approaches! Which means Horror movies on TCM and AMC! WOOOOOO! It also means pumpkin lattes and costuming fun! SO STOKED!! My favorite time of year is about to kick off!
And also, Max and my 2nd year aniversary fast approaches...seriously? Its two years already?

And yes, Fully aware I still have a Meme. I'll just continue at my own pace with it.

Day 04-Your Music
Showtunes are my life blood, I'll admit that. Its all I listened to in high school mainly because its the only thing that ever appealed to me at that time. Not a huge fan of New country or rap/R&B ...some techno is okay. I like rock mostly and I like things with a good melody that doesn't drive me insane.
I don't really have much of a niche in music. I just sorta like what I like. This ranges from classical, to bluegrass, to rock, to showtunes..etc etc...But I am definitely a sucker to anything I can sing along to. I am a world class champion car singer. I can be found of some bubblegum pop and I will get myself hooked on some songs that are fluffy.
Pretty much, if the song moves me. I'll like it, regardless of the genre.
cinagel: (Sam And Rosie-by ?)

A Day behind on the meme. Ah well I'll either double post today or I'll just post when I"m able to post.:)

Day 03 - Your Parents
Get comfy...this is a long one.
Meet The Parents )

cinagel: (Married)
First off:

Happy Birthday to the best husband in the world and the man who MASTERED the deer caught in headlights expression, Max.
No actually...I don't own one good snapshot of him. I have one great photo of him from our wedding. That's it.

So As you can probably tell, Fabulous Month is now on hold due to the TONS of stuff I have been up to. But I plan to reboot it in October, which honestly has some fantastic things instore for me (Great Western War, Rob's Wedding, Our 2nd Wedding Aniversary, Halloween..etc etc).
So Yeah..on hold right now.

My visit with the fam went awesome. And I have some pictures I plan to put up soon. I forgot my camera in typical Cindy fashion. But luckily, Leelee took a ton of photos and sent them to me via ye olde email. I really can't get over how big Danny gets everytime I see him. He now is at the age where he knows who I am. Lisa asks him "Where's Auntie Cindy?" And he points right at me and laughs.  I bonded with my first minion a lot this trip. We played with the hotwheels I bought him as well as the cute kid's calculator I bought him. Yes I am spoiling the Hell out of my boys. It's an aunt's duty. Little Tommie is an extremely mellow Baby. He just sits and chills most of the day and is hardly ever fussy. Tommie is the spitting image of my sister, red hair and all. He shall be Auntie Cindy's Minion #2 soon, OH YES.
I love my boys.:)

Anyways...onwards with the Meme.

Day 02 – Your first love

Huh...this is an interesting question.
So if you want to talk about my first CRUSH I would say that privilage (or curse, depending on how you percieve me)  belongs to a gentleman named Ben. Ben was the first guy I ever had a crush on and the first guy that probably developed my preference for the nerdy types. Ben was a tall gangly guy with glasses I Met when I was in the 6th grade. He was older than me by two years and hilariously funny. He always had messy curly brown hair and wore round thin rimmed glasses. I think it was the glasses thing that did it for me. Anyways, we became friends during our time in Pinole Young Actors Workshop. We both were in a show together. Then we parted ways. About two years later, right before I was going to start highschool I bumped into him at church (yes, there was a time I went to church weekly. Shocking, I know). My parents used to wait for...well a LONG time after church while Ben and I stood and talked. Honestly, the reason I WENT to church regularly was because I had the chance to sit and talk with Ben. I like to think God understood the brain of a 15 year old girl.
Anyways, it never went much further than that between us. Actually, Ben and I are still friends to this day. We went through high school together, and college too (both of us went to SFSU). I was even one of the first people to meet his wife when she was only his date for the night (Jackie is pretty dang awesome). We still keep in touch and hopefully we'll be meeting up this Christmas again to play catch up. Ben has always been a good guy in my life. We were what I liked to call "break up buddies". As in whenever either of us had a nasty break-up we were there for the other one, usually watching horror films and eating large amounts of pizza togehter while we bitched. It was definitely a two way street for the two of us on that front. I really couldn't have asked for a better guy to be my first crush/boyfriend.

If you want to talk about Love as in head over heels I hear birds singing Love...and I really don't care if this sounds like a cop out,...the answer to that is Max. Seriously. I have liked guys before, and loved them. But I never was IN love before I met Max. I feel head over heels for that hilarious bastard even though I was fighting it...fighting it hard. I think what won me over other than his excessive nerdiness and sense of humor was how patient he was. I was quite the wounded bird when he met me and was reluctant to open up to anyone at the time. But Max was very patient and just waited for me to get through all that crap. He was the first one to say I love you believe it or not. In the past it was always me.
I think the very moment when I realized I was done for with him was a few months after we started dating. He was sleeping over at my place one night both of us on the sofa bed since all I had before he moved in was a dinky twin bed. We were watching Adult Swim and both of us were starting to doze off. I had just clicked off the TV for the night and settled down for the evening. I said goodnight and was about to doze off when he rolled over, wrapped an arm around my waist, and said in a sleepy voice "You know, I think I'm falling for you."...then he fell asleep. That was the moment. Though honestly, I doubt Max remembers even saying that.
Max was definitely the first man I met who made me feel like I was truly in love with someone.

Introductions:
Hi...I'm Cindy.
*Hi Cindy*
And I suck at introductions. I never really think I give good ones to be honest because I never really can write about myself accurately. So We'll start at the basics. I'm 34 years old but frankly, I really feel like I'm still in my early twenties. Could be because I haven't completely grown up, or it could be because I constantly feel clueless. I'm 5' 6", Red hair, Green eyes, big breasts, kinda a long straight nose.....well there are pictures of me on this blog so just go find those if you want a better description. I was born in Northern California then moved down to Southern California to get my Master's Degree. I have been here in San Diego since 2001.
I have a Master's in Theatrical Costume Design which I fought tooth and nail for. And while I love learning, never ask me to go back to school. I will cringe at the thought. I am heavily involved in the SCA because of my husband Max. I also am involved with an amazing SCA household The Iron Maiden, who has become my second family down here in San Diego. My biological family is up in Northern California and I love them all dearly. I am the proud aunt of two adorable and incredibly handsome nephews Danny and Tommie. I'm unsure if I will have children of my own at this point in my life. Not feeling it right now. But I love being an Aunt.
I am kind of a loud mouth sometimes. I speak loudly, curse, and pretty much can be considered far from feminine and girly, though sometimes I secretly long to be looked at as such.  I take great pride in my curves, though. I like to think I am funny. I love to make people laugh.
I like to consider myself as artistic. I love to draw, paint, to sew, and pretty much do just about anything with my hands..this also includes cleaning and gardening. But, funny enough, I do not enjoy cooking.
I've been married for almost 2 years (will be 2 in October...holy crap!). But I've been with Max since 2004 so technically we've been together for about 6 years now. We bought our first house a year ago.
I own a little shit head of a cat named Scout who is adorable. And I have a decent amount of fish as well.
Overall, I'm pretty happy and satified with my life. I really try to live each day happily and fabulously.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] macbeemer I did a meme! WOO Its below the cut. ;D Besty asked questions that made me become long winded. BEWARE!

Borg Meme of Dooooom! )

In other news, Winter Arts was really fun! I had a good time displaying and even won some baubles for my work. I showed my orange Ren, Max's blue and silver Cassock, some Kimehimo braids, and my tankard cover I made. I also made another pumpkin pie which was devourered very quickly. At the event I managed to find someone to teach me beginner blackwork....now all I want to do is learn more so I can put blackwork on my chemises and Max's shirts...This could be deadly. I was really inspired by all the work I saw there and now I'm really wanting to get back to illumination and do some more garb research for garb...and black work. NEW ADDICTION!I will probably steal some photos from Anvenel and Lou and post a pic of my viking garb up in [livejournal.com profile] costumenonsense soon. BTW, Trish? Christal? Someone put their scary murder dolls on view and made some cool norman period garb for them. I totally geeked out and got to meet the girls who owned them. NERD AM I!!
On Friday I not only managed to clean out most of garage (GO ME) I also planted clover and my wild flower seeds for the front yard as well as weed the herb garden and my snap dragons. I also put up the cute little iron fence PJ left me as well as some solar lights to light the walk way up to the front door. The front yard is slowly starting to take shape. Hopefully in the new year I can get the Chateau de Nom Nom sign painted for the front door and This for our front yard....and my dorky girly side wants to get one of these too... But I'm really happy so far with how the front yard is coming along. It looks like one of the old succulents in the front is going to pot so I think I'm going to remove it soon and replace it with someing more floral. I haven't desided what yet.
Max and I made make our way out to pick up a tree for the Chateau de Nom Nom tonight. I'm itching to put up the Christmas decoration. We have a wreath on the door already and hopefully this week we'll get our icicle lights up around the house. HEE! I also want to pick up some oranges and cloves so I can put a bowl of them out in the living room. They always make the room smell so dang good!

If not that I may chill on the couch and try to finish up the first season of The Tudors. Only have two eps left.

Because I've been way too hard on myself this month.

"One little compliment can make you feel amazing. So give me a compliment, anything in the entire world, even that my shoelaces are pretty. Put this in your journal. And once you get some comments, put that entry in a memory or tag and when you are feeling down, just go to that entry and this will remind that you're not so bad in other people's eyes after all."
